Get your Ink on: Cape Town hosts its 3rd annual International Tattoo Convention
From 28 – 30 January the Pavilion Conference Centre at the V&A Waterfront will host the 3rd annual Cape Town International Tattoo Convention. Tattoo convention fundis will notice that it is no longer at the CTICC; this is because Southern Ink Xposure (SIX) – the people behind the scenes – decided that tattoo lovers need a more intimate atmosphere to meet some of the greatest tattoo artists in the world.
Over the past two years the convention has gone from strength to strength and this year over 50 international artists will wow visitors with their skills. Some of the top artists include:
- Megan Hoogland: A doyenne from Minneapolis, US with over 14 years experience in colour and black and white tattoo artistry.
- Milo "Mr Lucky" Marcer: One of Cape Town’s own ink gurus with a background in fine arts, design and illustration, and more than 20 years experience in the tattoo industry.
- Demian Cervera: Venezuela-born and London-based is relatively new to the tattoo industry in that he’s been a recognised artist for only about ten years. But his recognition is well-earned. He works primarily as a free lance artist and has been requested at some of the best tattoo parlours in the world.
This year, the convention promises to be bigger and better than ever: not only are there more artists but there will also be an expanded art exhibition programme, more concerts and a larger, more varied entertainment programme.
For instance, on 29 January at Zula Lounge in Long Street, SIX will host Live Fast Die Last, a not to be missed concert featuring some of the South Africa’s top bands.
On 30 January SIX will host the after party to end all after parties. Details are yet to be announced.
